Are you ready for festival season 2021?
Is festival season happening this year?
We were wondering too! Let's take a look at what the experts are saying.
"When the coronavirus outbreak first spread to the west, one of the first moments that foreshadowed the year to come was a festival cancellation. Seven days before hundreds of thousands of people descended on Austin, Texas, SXSW’s organisers announced the 2020 edition would no longer be going ahead. So began a ripple of festivals around the world slowly following suit.
At the time, it seemed unimaginable that no major festivals would go ahead this year. Some, like Coachella, tried postponing til later in the year. Others, like Iceland Airwaves, took hope from low cases in their countries and forged on, only to be scuppered by stricter measures designed to stymie the spread of the virus. In festivals’ places were headlines of scrapped events, doomy predictions for the future and plans for how the live industry could get back on its feet."

"Now, though, a vaccine and subsequent roll-out plan has culminated in a light at the end of the COVID tunnel and a glimmer of hope for many. Last week, Dr Anthony Fauci told a conference held by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals that he believed festivals could make a return in the U.S. “some time in the fall of 2021”, while an earlier date and at least 14million vaccinations are set to be received across the United Kingdom by February. This ambitious roll-out is already well underway, with the government even admitting they’re “hopeful” the country can have a “Great British summer”.
While vaccinations remain the main concern in festivals going ahead this summer, social distancing and similar preventative measures will most likely remain in place, resulting in what’s expected to be an all-round new festival experience for everyone."

"Remember that feeling that you got when you were planning which festivals to attend? While we may not have experienced that giddiness in a minute, festivals have been preparing for next year, and now you can too.
Let’s face it. 2020 is a wash as far as festivals go. There’s no point to dwelling on it, so let’s look ahead at what’s to come. A handful of festivals have already announced their lineups for next year, and are even available to buy tickets to. Not that there’s any rush, but knowing you have something to look forward to can seriously be therapeutic, and we could all use a little happiness in our lives right now."
